A new addition to the lab, Rick received his BA in psychology (magna cum laude) from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and MA in experimental psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. Under the mentorship of Dr. Max Louwerse, he is currently pursuing a PhD in cognitive psychology at the University of Memphis.
Rick is interested in all things language. His previous research has included categorization of plural nouns, implied movement interference effects, and comparing Spanish and English speakers’ attribution of responsibility. Use caution when you speak with him, because he will probably be listening very closely to your accent!
When dreaming of that elusive concept known as free time, Rick enjoys hosting afternoon teas, learning new languages, subway systems, linguistic anthropology, traveling, the minutiae of grammar, playing numerous musical instruments in styles from punk to baroque, and historical linguistics. Further analysis is probably not necessary to see the pattern here!
